Over 30 projects implemented with financing from SDC

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A working group led by Franziska Freiburghaus, Interim Director of Cooperation and Consul General at the Swiss Cooperation Office in Mongolia is working in Khovd aimag on October 8-10.
During their visit, the delegates met with local authorities to discuss the progress of the projects being implemented in the aimag and further cooperation.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been carrying out projects in Mongolia since 2002 and in Khovd aimag since 2004. The agency has so far implemented over 30 projects on desertification mitigation, animal health, raw material traceability and so forth and is currently working on 17 more.
At the meeting, local project coordinator J.Batsaikhan briefed the activities carried out in the aimag under the third phase of the Sustainable Livelihoods Project and their results.
In particular, public procurement (A3) certification training involved 58 individuals in 2018 and 108 others in 2019 with a MNT 31 million funding from SDC. Moreover, the local officials highlighted the agency is giving financial assistance for capacity building training modules for civil servants, and in improving citizen’ involvement in Local Development Fund activities.
