/MONTSAME/ Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Young-joo
was awarded the Polar Star Order, in accordance with the decree of President of
Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh presented the award at the State House on May 24.
The Polar Star
Order was conferred upon Ms. Kim Young-joo, in recognition of her valuable
contribution to intensification of parliamentary relations of the two
countries, empowerment of women at decision-making level, and women’s
participation in politics.
Ms. Kim Young-joo,
who currently is serving her third term as National Assembly member, has given substantial
policy support for protection of the rights of Mongolians working in South
Korea during her office as the Minister of Employment and Labor. She not only enabled
40 thousand Mongolians working in South Korea to pay their social insurance
premiums and have their pension rate adjusted after coming back to Mongolia,
but also ensured their employment and safety.
This time,
she is to officially inform the government of a decision of the South Korean
government and Employment and Labor Ministry to implement a four-year project
worth KRW 3.5 billion to develop a digital labor platform. It can be seen from good
practices of the countries where the project has been implemented that the digital
labor platform reduces unemployment and poverty through creation of a unified database
of vacancies and information about jobseekers, thus, contributes significantly
to the country’s social and economic development.
