Education Minister meets with Facebook delegation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ “Facebook Company is preparing to implement ‘Digital Literacy’ program in Mongolia,” Head of Public Policy for Mongolia, Taiwan and Hong Kong George Chen introduced during the meeting with Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg.
“When we delete 100 fake accounts to protect from fake news, another 100 fake accounts are re-created. Therefore, foresighted solution is to promote proper use of cyberspace to the public and ‘Digital Literacy’ program to be implemented in Mongolia aims it as well,” he said.
Formulated in collaboration with Harvard University, the program has been translated into Mongolian to be jointly implemented by Communications and Information Technology Authority of Mongolia and Faro Foundation Mongolia.
“Facebook Company also runs activity targeted to make training more exciting using technological advance. In scope of it, we are possible to donate equipment, designed for showing real imagination and sense, to the secondary schools,” he added.
Minister Yo.Baatarbileg said it is necessary to promote and lead to proper use of Facebook rather than prohibiting it. I consider that it is a big platform for teachers to study experiences and for children to be nurtured if only we use it appropriately. On the one hand, this is ‘a teacher.’ The Ministry is ready to cooperate with the program.
Moreover, the Minister asked to give advice on draft bill on making use of cyberspace appropriately.
