Two Mongolian Children Crowned World School Chess Champions
SocietyUlaanbaatar, May 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The FIDE World School Chess Championship 2024 was held in Lima City, Peru, from April 30 to May 10, 2024. Over 1200 students from 26 countries in six age categories competed in this championship. From Mongolia, 11 chess player students participated. Under the Swiss system, N. Az-Erdene, competing in the U7 category, achieved a perfect score by winning all nine rounds and emerged as the Absolute Champion.
In the U7 category, B. Uchral secured the gold medal with eight wins and one loss, while Ch. Nandinjiguur topped the podium in the U9 girls' category after winning six rounds and drawing two.
The bronze medalists of the championship were N. Sodbilegt in the U15 boys category with a score of 7.5, B. Buyankhishig in the U13 girls category, and M. Urangoo in the U11 girls category with a score of 7. In the U9 boys category, B. Batamgalan finished in 4th place.
