/MONTSAME/ D. Bayarbold, Director of the Public Health Department of the Capital
City, reported that 801,765 citizens had already been involved in the
preventive and early-detection checkups, a nationwide campaign.
He said, “Forty five point eight percent of the participants are male and 54.2 percent are female. By location, 48.9 percent of the total participants are from Ulaanbaatar, and 51.1 percent are from rural areas. Children up to the age of 17 constituted a great proportion of the total participants, with 68.7 percent and followed by the adults with 31.3 percent. From this, we can see that citizens of Ulaanbaatar were comparatively active before, while now, countryside citizens are more actively participating in this nationwide campaign.”
“As of today, 25 percent of the total population has been involved in preventive and early-detection checkups. A total of 459,688 suspected cases were registered, of which 60.7 percent were gastrointestinal diseases, 8.7 percent were endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic diseases, 7.1 percent were cardiovascular diseases, 6.5 percent were urologic diseases and 6.1 percent were respiratory diseases. Collectively, these diseases have constituted 89.1 percent of the total suspected cases and have been considered as the leading cases.” he added.
In
addition, a total of 214,096 suspected cases were registered among children up
to 17 years old, of which dental caries have solely accounted for 72.1 percent.
