International standard certification presented to three leather processing factories

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On October 21, certifications for the international standard for quality management system ISO 9001:2015 were presented to ‘Mon-Ireedui’ leather and hide processing factory, ‘Best Shoes’ shoe manufacturing factory, and ‘Darkhan Nekhii’ leather processing factory at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry.
The Government of Mongolia is implementing a policy on increasing the competitiveness of leather processing industry, introducing new and advanced technology, increasing job opportunities, developing value-added and environmentally friendly production that would replace import products and developing export oriented production.
As a part of the Agriculture and Rural Development Project (Additional Financing), the Asian Development Bank is also providing technical assistance to support the subsectors of wool and cashmere, leather, meat, sea buckthorn, bee farming, dairy, and apparel, in aims of increasing their manufacturing capacity, building the capacity of entities, and developing brand products of Mongolia.
With the entities’ initiatives and the project’s support, the entities were provided with necessary training and advice over the course of 6 months to introduce the ISO 9001:2015 standard in the leather processing industry.
