Russia pledges support for establishment of meat processing plant in quarantine area

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry S.Mendsaikhan on September 28 met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia Iskander Kubarovich Azizov.


Ambassador I.K.Azizov emphasized at the beginning of the meeting that there are a breadth of opportunities for further expansion of agricultural cooperation between the two countries and said the Russian side is ready to cooperate in implementing third phases of the ‘Agricultural Equipment Upgrade’ and ‘Animal Health’ Programs and building a joint meat processing plant in a veterinary quarantine area bordering Russia.


The Ambassador also underlined that it is possible to increase the number of agricultural science students in the approved quota of 550 students to receive the Russian government scholarship for the academic year 2020-2021.


Minister S.Mendsaikhan informed that the working group in charge of bilateral agricultural and light industry cooperation is scheduled to convene during the upcoming meeting of the Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental commission and touched upon the joint celebratory activities planned in honor of the 100th anniversary of Mongolia-Russia diplomatic relations that falls in 2021.
