Mongolia and India strengthen their mutual understanding on strategic partnership ties

Speaker of the Lower House (Lok Sabha) of the Indian parliament Ms Sumitra Mahajan is paying an official visit to Mongolia.

In scope of the visit, Ms Sumitra will take part in the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting to be held April 21-22 in Ulaanbaatar.

State leaders of Mongolia have met the Speaker of Lower House of Indian parliament. The parties touched upon issues of fortifying the mutually-beneficial relations and cooperation in trade and economy which have transmitted into a strategic partnership level, forwarding the cooperation in IT development and introducing Indian experiences in Mongolia about boosting local development.

Within the visit, the sides established a memorandum of mutual understanding which designs a legal basis of the bilateral cooperation and creates a favorable condition for broadening the cooperation. Moreover, this document reflects aspirations to progress the cooperation at regional and international arenas.

During a visit of the Prime Minister of India to Mongolia last year, Mongolia has gained a right to receive a soft-loan of one billion US dollars. In end of this month, the Foreign Minister of Mongolia Purevsuren will visit India to ink the general credit agreement. It is projected that the loan will be exploited mostly for the infrastructure sector in Mongolia.
