International cooperation to be developed for Mongolian reindeer herders

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ O.Batchuluun, head of the Reindeer Association of Mongolia and L.Munkhbaatar, a member of parliament, have participated in the 6th World Reindeer Herders’ Congress held in Jokkmokk village of Sweden.

During the congress, the administrations of Khuvsgul aimag’s Tsagaannuur soum and Norwegian Kautokeino municipality in Finnmark county made a cooperation agreement, establishing the sisterhood ties.

Afterwards, the Mongolian representatives met A.Pogadaev, president of the Association World Reindeer Herders, and concurred to collaborate in augmenting reindeer population in Mongolia, improving the livelihood of reindeers, strengthening household productions and introducing new methods and technologies for raising reindeer.

There are 237 reindeer herders in 54 households breeding 1,970 heads of reindeer in the western and eastern sides of taiga in Khuvsgul aimag’s Tsagaannuur soum.
