Mongolia raising 17.5 million heads of young animals

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Food and Agriculture reported Friday that the country has enriched the livestock with 17.5 million heads of new-born animals in this lambing period after 17.9 million heads or 75.1% of the totaling 23 million heads of dams have given births nationwide.

Out of the total young animals, 52.7 thousand heads were camel calves, 388.1 thousand--foals, 714.3 thousand--calves, 8.9 million--lambs and 7.5 million--baby goats. It means 98% of the baby animals have survived.

The animal loss has reached 1,1 million heads which accounted for 2% of the total animals that were counted in beginning of this year.

Sukhbaatar, Uvs, Zavkhan, Arkhangai and Bayankhongor aimags had the largest number of animal loss. 2.5-6% of the lost animals were recorded in these aimags.
