FM meets ICRC president

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A meeting between L.Purevsuren, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and visiting Mr Peter Maurer, a president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), ran Tuesday.

The parties noted about reflecting international humanitarian law in training programs of Mongolian universities and about a support from the ICRC in formulating a draft new version of the law on legal status of the Red Cross Society of Mongolia (RCSM).

They also discussed issues concerning an involvement of Mongolians in ICRC’s actions, co-organization of international workshops and seminars on the international humanitarian law, health, fresh water and foods, a supply of humanitarian goods from Mongolian companies, and  trainings for Mongolian peacekeepers in South Sudan and Afghanistan and for participants of the “Khaan Quest” annual international exercises.

Having become the very first president of the ICRC to visit Mongolia, Peter Maurer will leg the RCSM’s headquarters and its branch in Nalaikh city and give a lecture on international humanitarian issue at the Law School at the Mongolian State University (MSU).
