Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Minister of Foreign Relations and Trade of Hungary Hold Official Talks

Ulaanbaatar, April 27, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On April 26, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, who paid an official visit to Hungary on April 24-26, 2025, held official talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.
During the official talks, the two sides affirmed the achievement of 75 years of Mongolia-Hungary relations and cooperation, and agreed to foster fruitful cooperation in the fields of social and economic sectors, particularly in mutually beneficial areas to increase economic benefit and investments. The Foreign Ministers of the two countries concurred to fully utilize the potential of economic cooperation, boost bilateral trade, and ensure the implementation of the “Intergovernmental Agreement of Air Relations,” signed in 2024, which would establish direct flights between the Capital Cities of the two countries, thereby strengthening people-to-people exchanges and trade relations.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg introduced Mongolia’s long-term development priorities and National Movements and Programs initiated by the State and Government of Mongolia, including the “Food Supply and Security,” “Billions of Trees,” “White Gold,” and “Blue Gold,” and underlined the broad opportunities for cooperation with Hungary in achieving these goals. The two sides also discussed close cooperation in line with the goals of the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), to be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2026, and the "International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists" on addressing global challenges including climate change, desertification, land degradation, and food security.
The Foreign Minister of Mongolia expressed gratitude to the Hungarian side for the Hungarian Government’s scholarship programs, which enable Mongolian students to study at top Hungarian Universities, and reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to further expanding cooperation in the field of education. The two sides agreed on the importance of the active cooperation in culture and science between the two countries, including joint scientific and archealogical research, cultural promotion, and heritage preservation, which serves to bring the people of the two countries closer together.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations, exchanged views on a number of international issues, and held a joint press statement summarizing the outcomes of the official talks.
