Prime Minister of Mongolia Meets with Premier of the State Council of China

Ulaanbaatar, February 17, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai met with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang in Harbin, the People's Republic of China, on February 14, 2025. 


The two Heads of Government expressed mutual satisfaction with the active development and concrete achievements in Mongolia-China relations and cooperation since their meeting in Shanghai in November 2024.


In particular, the two sides highlighted that the Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod cross-border railway project, one of Mongolia’s 14 mega projects, is progressing actively, and the recent signing of the "Intergovernmental Agreement on Cross-Border Railway Connectivity, Coal Trade, and the Expansion of Tavan Tolgoi’s Coal Mining Capacity" would play a crucial step in advancing bilateral cooperation to a new level.


The two sides agreed to closely cooperate on maintaining the frequency of high-level visits, aligning development strategies, diversifying trade structures, connecting border ports, strengthening the legal framework for bilateral relations, and expanding collaboration in environmental protection, tourism, manufacturing, renewable energy, and the green and digital economies. The two sides also concurred on strengthening trilateral cooperation between Mongolia, China, and Russia.


This was the fifth meeting between the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The two sides expressed mutual appreciation for the successful implementation of projects and programs discussed during previous visits and meetings. Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene also congratulated the State Council of the PRC for successfully hosting the 9th Asian Winter Games.
