Mongolia Addresses UN High-Level Plenary Meeting

and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Enkhbold
Vorshilov addressed the High-level plenary meeting to commemorate and promote
the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons held on
September 26, 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the United Nations
General Assembly.
Permanent
Representative Enkhbold emphasized that Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status
is making a significant contribution to international efforts to disarm, prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, and the complete elimination.
He stressed that establishing nuclear-weapon-free zones is the most effective
way to completely eliminate nuclear weapons.

Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 78th Session of the UN
General Assembly Dennis Francis, and representatives of UN member states
attended the High-level plenary meeting.
The
International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons has been
observed annually since 2014. Pursuant to the resolutions of the General
Assembly, Member States, the United Nations system, and civil society,
including non-governmental organizations, academia, parliamentarians, the mass
media, and individuals are encouraged to commemorate and promote the
International Day through enhancing public awareness and education about the
threat posed to humanity by nuclear weapons and the necessity for their total
elimination.
