Wonders of Mongolia Promoted at "Orientalys Festival"

Ulaanbaatar, August 17, 2023 /MONTSAME/. As part of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada, the Embassy of Mongolia to Canada participated in the Orientalys Festival on August 10-13, 2023, promoting Mongolian history, tradition, culture, and intellectual heritage.
Specifically, translated versions of well-known Mongolian books by translator R. Munkhzul were presented to the French-speaking public residing in Canada. These include:
- "Comment j'ai découvert le monde" (Discovering the World) by Tudev Lodon, Hero of Labour of Mongolia, People's Writer, Honored Cultural Figure of Mongolia, and Laureate of the State Premium,
- An anthology of Mongolian writers of the 20th century titled "Coeur de bronze" (Heart of Bronze),
- “Aquarium” and "Éclats de nuit," a collection of 100 poems about women's lives by L. Ulziitugs.
Painters and calligraphers V. Baatarchuluun and T. Gantulga exhibited their artworks, while horsehead fiddlers, throat singers A. Anand, and Kh. Uuriintuya, folk dancers G. Khulan, T. Khaliun, and G. Sainzaya, flutist B. Tsogtsaikhan, and musician N. Bayarsaikhan, accompanied by Canadian artist Julie Rousseau presented traditional Mongolian songs, music, and dances.
Additionally, an interactive demonstration of knucklebone shooting took place during the event to closely introduce the popular team-based game in Mongolia.
Jean-Frédéric Légaré-Tremblay, a former Reporter and International Columnist for the Canadian newspaper La Presse, Jérémy Le Blanc-Gauthier, a doctoral student at the University of Montreal, and traveler Charles Roberge, author of the book "Mongolia: A Fabulous Journey to the Land of Sand," introduced visitors to the Festival modern-day Mongolia and its people, economy, culture, politics, and society.
The Orientalys Festival has experienced significant growth in popularity over the years, now drawing in more than 200 thousand visitors annually. It is an exceptional opportunity for learning about the diverse cultures of Eastern countries and offers an immersive experience of their rich and multifaceted heritage.
