Ulaanbaatar, June 16, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On June 14, Head Coach Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco men's basketball program officially welcomed guard Mike Sharavjamts to their team.

Gerlufsen expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the signing of Mike Sharavjamts to the University of San Francisco. Mike has a chance to be an instant fan favorite here on the Hilltop. His skill set, high basketball IQ, and overall potential are what drew us to him. We are ecstatic that Mike chose to join our basketball family after going through the 2023 NBA pre-draft process. He'll be a great representative of the Mongolian community in the Bay Area and beyond!"

Sharavjamts, whose full name is Enkhiin-Od Sharavjamts, became the first Mongolian citizen to earn a Division I athletic scholarship in basketball after signing with the University of Dayton last spring. In 2022-2023, Sharavjamts appeared in 32 games for the Flyers, which included making 20 starts. With an average of 23.1 minutes per game, the versatile forward averaged 5.6 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds under Head Coach Anthony Grant. Mike’s performance earned him a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie Team, making him the sixth recruit in six seasons under Grant to receive this honor.

Before joining Dayton, Sharavjamts began his high school career at Legacy Christian in Xenia, Ohio, near Dayton. He averaged 10.5 points in 19 games in the 2018-19 season as a freshman. He then played as a sophomore at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif. in 2019-2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to his home in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia for his junior year before joining the ISA program in 2021-22.

Sharavjamts joins Ryan Beasley, Junjie "Barry" Wang, Malik Thomas, Jonathan Mogbo, and Stefan Todorovic as the sixth member of USF's 2023 signing class.
