Mongolian Wrestlers Dominate Podium in 53 kg

Ulaanbaatar, June 4, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Bishkek Ranking Series 2023, also known as the Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul & Raatbek Sanatbaev wrestling series, will conclude today.  


On June 3, it was a remarkable moment that all three Mongolian wrestlers were on the podium in the women’s 53 kg category. Specifically, Silver Medalist of the World Championship Khulan Batkhuyag, Silver Medalist of the Asian Championship Otgonjargal Ganbaatar, and Bronze Medalist of the World Championship Bolortuya Bat-Ochir secured the gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively. 


A total of 13 wrestlers competed for the top spot in the 53 kg category, with three Mongolians reaching the semifinals. Khulan faced Lucia Yepez (ECU) and won via fall. The second semifinal also saw a similar result as Khulan pinned Bolortuya. 


Khulan gave no chance to Otgonjargal and won 8-0 in the gold medal bout. She defended any attempts from Otgonjargal as well and countered them with takedowns of her own to blank her and win the final.
