Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the GDI Signed

Ulaanbaatar, April 24, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On the sideline of
the annual Financing for Development Forum, held by the Economic and Social
Council of the UN between April 17 and 20 in New York City, the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia Ch. Khurelbaatar
signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the Global
Development Initiative (GDI)” with Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China
International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).
Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the GDI during the annual gathering in New
York City for the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on
21 September 2021. Aiming at building a global community of development, the
GDI puts development first and the people at the center, and seeks to expedite
the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Within the framework of
this MoU, the parties agreed to expand the development cooperation, implement
development projects in Mongolia with the funding of the Chinese grants and
loans and the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund, exchange
experiences, build capacity, and develop cooperation in such fields as reducing
poverty, health care, climate change, green development, digital economy, and
infrastructure.
