Preliminary Balance of Payment for 2022

Ulaanbaatar, February 27, 2023 /MONTSAME/. According to the National Statistics Office, the current account balance of payment was in deficit of USD 2.9 billion in 2022 and increased by USD 767.3 (36.4%) million compared to the previous year.


This deficit in the current account was mainly due to increase in deficit of USD 263.2 million in trade in goods and increase in deficit of USD 661.6 million in the trade in service deficit compared to the previous year. In December 2022, the current account was in deficit of USD 195.3 million and increased by USD 189.0 million from the previous month.


In 2022, by the preliminary results, credit of trade in services reached USD 1.1 billion, increased by USD 265.3 million, and debit of service trade reached USD 3.4 billion, increased by USD 926.9 million compared to the previous year. The trade in service balance deficit reached USD 2.3 billion and increased by USD 661.6 million compared to the previous year.


The capital account was in surplus of USD 168.8 million in 2022 and increased by USD 54.8 million compared to the previous year. In December 2022, the capital account surplus reached USD 19.5 million and decreased by USD 0.5 million compared to the previous month. In 2022, the financial account was in surplus of USD 2.2 billion and increased by USD 186.0 million from the previous year. In December 2022, the financial account surplus reached USD 608.3 million and increased by USD 467.4 million compared to the previous month.


The balance of payment was in deficit of USD 727.2 million and increased by USD 505.6 million compared to the previous year. In December 2022, the balance of payment surplus reached USD 469.7 million and increased by USD 307.1 million compared to the previous month.
