Wheelchairs provided to 47 health organizations

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. With the support of an international organization, 258 wheelchairs were provided on November 17, 2022, to 47 health centers and organizations in 21 aimags and the capital to provide accessible and unhindered assistance and services to citizens with disabilities.

 

During this occasion, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Ts. Erdembileg, instructed the heads of the hospital to pay particular attention to the care and service quality, and accessibility provided to people with disabilities and to work following the principle of leaving no one behind.

 

Mongolia joined the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2009 and adopted the Law on Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2016. Based on the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Resolution 116 of the Government of Mongolia in 2017, the adjunct sub-council for ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities under the Ministry of Health was established according to the Order A/174 of 2021 of the Minister of Health.

 

The adjunct sub-council for ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities has focused more on assistance and services during the coronavirus pandemic and has been making suitable arrangements for the interruption of medicine and medical equipment due to the border situation related to the pandemic in the past two years. From the second half of 2022, the sub-council is working more closely on the implementation of State Government Notation 33 of 2022: the access to assistance and services for disabled people and reproductive assistance and services for disabled women.

 

The Head of the Department of Primary Care and Referral Support of the Ministry of Health, G. Navchaa, the Department of Traditional Medicine, B. Dolgorsuren, the Director of the Deseret International Charity, D. Purevjargal, and the hospital leaders participated in this event.
