Heads of diplomatic missions in Mongolia take part in tree planting campaignOne Billion Trees
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The opening ceremony of the ‘Green City-Citizens’ Participation’ tree planting campaign within the framework of the ‘One Billion Tree’, the national movement spearheaded by the President of Mongolia, took place on May 14 in the Nalaikh district of the capital city.
Heads of diplomatic missions of 22 countries in Mongolia, international organizations, cultural envoys of Mongolia, and the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined the movement, planting new trees alongside watering the trees planted in 2021.
In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan said, “7.9 percent of Mongolia's territory is covered with forests. We have set ourselves the goal of increasing this area to 9 percent by 2030. In this context, each district plans to plant 1.2 million trees this year”, while urging all the citizens to take an active part in planting more trees.
