President instructs government to implement ‘Healthy Mongolian’ movement

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Today, President U. Khurelsukh has
issued an order on providing instructions to Government on the implementation
of the ‘Healthy Mongolian’ national movement.
The order instructs the government to develop and implement a
Healthy Mongolian target program to reduce the negative impact on human health,
social security and the economy caused by improper use of alcoholic beverages.
Statements in the order include the establishment of a
cancer hospital, an alcohol addiction treatment center and a development center
for children with disabilities with the income from excise duty on alcoholic
beverages, the creation of a policy and legal environment to reduce the alcohol
content in 38% ethyl alcohol by 2% annually within a decade by way of altering the
excise tax classification, and the implementation of comprehensive social and
economic measures to reduce the consumption of alcohol and alcoholic beverages by
increasing and promoting employment in frames of fundamental reforms transitioning from welfare
to employment.
