Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg meets her Chinese counterpart

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. During Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene’s visit to the People’s Republic of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg held a meeting with China’s State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi to discuss certain matters regarding bilateral relations.

 

At the start of the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg congratulated the side of China for successfully organizing the Olympic Games as scheduled, and expressed her pleasure in meeting the Chinese Foreign Minister once again in person after over 6 months. 

 

During the meeting, Minister B.Battsetseg noted the significance being given by the side of Mongolia to the Prime Minister’s visit to China, and exchanged views on keeping the frequency of high-level visits and organizing regular meetings between the heads of state and governments of Mongolia, Russia, and China. The two ministers also held an extended discussion on specific matters, such as accelerating works to connect the border checkpoints of Gashuunsukhait - Gantsmod, Shiveekhuren - Sekhee, and Bichig - Zuunkhatavch by rail, joining forces against desertification and dust storms, jointly implementing a project on reducing the traffic congestion of Ulaanbaatar city, and increasing the export of meat and food products to China.

 


The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed readiness to provide support in the implementation of Mongolia’s ‘One Billion Trees’ national movement as well as projects aimed at reducing the traffic congestion of Ulaanbaatar, and pledged to focus on accelerating the works to connect the railroads, and increasing exports.
