Mongolian team advances to final four of Vitality World Running Cup

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian team participating in the Vitality Running World Cup has won the third place in the second stage of the tournament and clinched its spot in the finals along with South Africa, Namibia and the United Kingdom.


The three-stage tournament, which has a goal to spark a global movement in health by empowering people to be more active, is being organized from September 21 to October 10. With over 100,000 runners from 242 countries in this year’s tournament, and over 2.8 million kilometers already run, the race is on the final few days to see which country would be crowned Vitality Running World Cup winner.


Each participating country has a captain, such as Usain Bolt for Jamaica, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill for England, and Wayde van Niekerk for South Africa.


As for Mongolia, U.Ganzoring, founder of the MGL Running Channel, which is the official organizer of the tournament in Mongolia, has been selected as the country captain.


Mongolian team of 850 runners is running under the motto - ‘Team Mongolia Run As One Nation’. Physical Culture and Sports Authority is supporting and co-organizing the tournament in Mongolia to promote it in 21 aimags and, 9 districts of the capital city.

The competition is free-to-enter and open-to-all who are over the age of 13. Every participant who runs 3km in under 30 minutes will be able to earn points for their country.


Participants can track each kilometer they run, using free apps including Strava, adidas Running, Health App, Google Fit, FitBit, Garmin, mapmyrun and Pacer. All runners who achieve their weekly goal of 3 km will unlock a donation reward to UNICEF to help vaccinate children across the world against Polio.
