Joint meeting held between authorities of Agriculture and Foreign Ministries
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On September 14,
authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Ministry of Food,
Agriculture and Light Industry (MoFALI) held a meeting to exchange information
and views on improving coordination of the activities between two ministries,
effectively implementing the tasks and measures to be realized jointly by the
two ministries within the ‘Action Plan
of the Government of Mongolia for 2020-2024’,
as well as timely issues such as export of the agricultural products.
Noting the importance of developing agricultural sector as a
leading economic sphere, developing agricultural processing industry in line
with the international standards, and fully utilizing the resources of the
country’s major trading and investment partners to become a food exporter, two
ministries agreed to intensify the activities of the departments of the ministries
and Mongolian diplomatic missions abroad to realize the tasks.
Minister of Foreign
Affairs B.Battsetseg and Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry
Z.Mendsaikhan agreed to revise the ‘Action
Plan to be co-implemented by the two ministries to support export, stabilize
import amid the pandemic’ in
line with the current situation and
enrich its content. To
ensure its implementation, it was decided to hold quarterly meetings between
departments of the ministries.
The parties also
emphasized the importance of promoting the activities of traders and
businesspeople and cooperating with businesses with an aim to increase the production
of by-products, meat, flour, and leather, which are a relatively competitive in
the global market.
