National program on annual medical checkups to be developed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At a regular meeting of the Cabinet on June 8, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene obliged the corresponding ministers to develop a national program for involving citizens in annual medical checkups. 


In its framework, a database for the health records of citizens is planned to be established alongside creating the opportunity to be involved in medical checkups annually depending on their age group.


The leading causes of death in Mongolia include cardiovascular diseases and cancer. For instance, while there were 4,466 new cases of cancer detected in 2010, the number of cases increased to 6,702 in 2020. Cancer was diagnosed in Stage II and III in 73 percent of the patients.
