Female wrestlers qualify for Olympics as a full team with Kh.Bolortuya’s successful runSports
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. With IM Kh.Bolortuya qualifying for the finals in the women’s 62 kg weight class at the World Olympic Games Qualifier that is taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, the 9th or the last wrestling athlete of the national team has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
This will be the first time for female Mongolian wrestlers to compete in the Summer Olympics with a full team.
In the tournament, athlete Kh.Bolortuya faced off against Iva Geric of Croatia, Nathali Griman Herrera of Venezuela, and Veranika Ivanova of Belarus, and came out victorious through victory by fall (VFA) in all matches. She has also had a successful run at the Asian Championships that took place recently by grabbing the silver medal.
In the deciding match for qualifying for the Summer Olympics, she finished off her opponent by VFA despite nearly losing the match with a score of 1:9.
With the great performance of Kh.Bolortuya in the tournament, 6 female and 3 male wrestlers of the national wrestling team have been qualified to step onto the mat.
