Mongolia-India joint working group convenes

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A Mongolia-India joint working group in charge of coking coal supply issue convened online on March 25.


The meeting was attended by Ambassador to India G.Ganbold and Ambassador to Mongolia M.P.Singh and representatives of Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry of Mongolia, Ministry of Steel of India, Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia, Steel Authority of India. RINL and Tata Steel companies of India and Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC and exchanged views on the possibility of exporting coking coal to India.


The Indian Coal Concentrators Association and the Mongolian Coal Association also met online on February 10 to discuss the content and quality of Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC's coking coal. The Mongolian side also delivered a sample of coking coal to the Steel Authority of India (SAIL).


The joint working group is working to prepare the sample for detailed laboratory analysis and discussion by the professional commission to make a decision on the long-term sustainable purchase of coking coal from Mongolia.
