SEC suggests to continue online and TV classes until March 1

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 30, the State Emergency Commission (SEC) convened and discussed situation of COVID-19 pandemic, starting the second semester of academic year of general education schools and kindergartens and other timely matters.


Regarding with starting of the second semester, the Ministry of Education and Science has conducted a study covering current situation of the pandemic and influenza and influenza-like illness, weather forecast, aimags and soums facing harsh wintering and information on herder families, practicing transhumance. According to the study, ambulatory examination of influenza and influenza-like illness is at 2.4 percent. Around 9,400 children of kindergarten and school age have been served by hospital since the arrival of this year.


Although weather forecast showed that eight aimags expected to have more snow than average in the months from February to April, intensity of cold is at the same level of previous years across the country. There are nearly 20 thousand children of kindergarten and school age in 26 thousand herder families practicing transhumance and wintering in areas that are at high risk of severe wintering. Considering all these, the SEC supported to continue TV and online classes for one month beginning from today, February 1.


Furthermore, it is crucial to implement a policy on reviving economy alongside protecting citizens’ health within the framework of combating COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the SEC S.Amarsaikhan expressed to develop a complex plan on this direction and submit it to the Cabinet. The commission also wil present a plan on bringing citizens abroad back home in a short period of time as possible and use foreign aviation companies for it.
