Trucks carrying fodder depart to aimags in severe wintering condition

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The first convoy of trucks to deliver 1,200 tons of livestock fodder to over 45 thousand herder households in the aimags affected by severe winter and in transhumant areas has departed from Ulaanbaatar today. The Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh thanked the drivers who will distribute assistance to the herders.
The Government has decided to provide MNT300 thousand-worth
livestock fodder to each of over 45 thousand herder families in 74 soums of
five aimags, which are experiencing severe wintering.
It is being funded with the World Bank’s Livestock
Commercialization Project. Local emergency commissions and Food and Agriculture
Departments of Gobi-Altai, Uvurkhangai, Bayankhongor, Umnugobi and Dundgobi aimags are responsible for the delivery of the fodder to
herders. The registration on the delivery of assistance to herder households
will be verified through an application and it will be monitored in accordance
with World Bank rules and regulations.
