53.1 tons of gold reserves in Kharmagtai deposit registered

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The amount of gold reserves contained in the ‘North Burgedei’ orebody of special exploration license field of ‘Ovoot Khyar’ at the Kharmagtai deposits located in Tsogttsetsii soum, Umnugobi aimag has been determined. 


A joint team of geologists from ‘Geological Research Center’ state-owned enterprise and Erdenes Silver Resource state company had shared that the orebody holds 53.1 tons of gold in reserves. 


The detailed exploration field research was completed on November 30 and the established amount of gold reserves has been reviewed by the Mineral Resources Professional Council and registered as state reserves. 


Required studies will continue to be performed for the remaining orebodies to increase the total reserves of the deposit by up to 60 percent. 


At its weekly meeting convened on December 30, the cabinet agreed to continue explorations and determine the size of gold and other minerals’ reserves using the government budget in 2021.
