Foreign Minister meets TRAM project team

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On August 18, Minister of Foreign Affairs N. Enkhtaivan received team members of the EU-funded project ‘Trade Related Assistance for Mongolia (TRAM)’.


At the meeting, the TRAM project team introduced the activities being implemented within the TRAM project since 2017 to promote trade policy, trade facilitation and export.


Minister N.Enkhtaivan expressed his commitment to focus on foreign trade and export promotion within the policy of the new government, in particular, he stressed the importance of providing SMEs with access to the market and improving product quality and standards.


Moreover, the project team introduced a report of the study towards export financing for Mongolian SMEs. The study identifies the financing difficulties required for national enterprises to enter foreign markets, and based on the study, it has developed recommendations for establishing an export credit guarantee system. The study says that the establishment of this system will allow Mongolian non-mining exporters to increase their exports up to 50-80 percent.


Minister N.Enkhtaivan expressed satisfaction with the TRAM activities and the project results and expressed his support until the end of the project in 2021.
