Mongolian girls’ team of draughts becomes champion
SportsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. A Mongolian girls’ team of draughts won a gold medal at the FMJD’s Women’s Cup of Nations online.
In the tournament that ran online for two months, girls from 11 countries competed in the first round. In the first round, Mongolian team won teams from the Netherlands, Suriname, Estonia, Brazil and Belarus, had a tied match with Latvian, Israeli, and Chinese teams, but was defeated by Russian and Ukrainian teams.
In the next qualifier rounds, the
Mongolian girls defeated their opponents of China by 6:2 and 8:0, respectively.
In the semi-final, the Mongolian
team could win the Russian team headed by world champions Tamara Tansykkyzhina
and Aygul Idrisova by 4:4 and 7:1, qualifying to compete in the final.
In the final, the Mongolian team played with the Belarusian side
that was comprised of skilled players. Although our girls grabbed a win in their
pool by 6:2, it was clear that this time the match would run at a completely
different level. In the first match of the final, held on August 14, the
Mongolian team won 5:3.
But the August 15 match started harder for our players, and the first and third table players lost. In the decisive moment, E. Khuslen and B. Munkhjin made wins, which resulted in 4:4. With the sum of scores of the two matches, the Mongolian team won by 9:7, becoming a champion of the first cup.
