Naadam Festival organizing committee convenes

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The organizing committee of Naadam
Festival has resolved to organize the festival on July 11-12 without large
gatherings in compliance with the Covid-19 safety rules and regulations and not to organize public events such as mountain worship ceremonies and anniversary
celebrations.
The committee held a meeting on June 16 and to prevent Covid-19 infections during the festival it approved temporary regulations on the organization of this year’s Naadam Festival, commemorating the 2229th anniversary of Foundation of the first Mongolian State, 814th anniversary of the founding of the Great Mongol Empire, and the 99th anniversary of the Mongolian People’s Revolution.
Preparations are underway to hold wrestling, archery, and
knuckle-bone shooting tournaments at 13th Century Complex, horse races at Khui
Doloon Khudag, and the State Grand Honoring Concert at the Cultural Palace of
Ulaanbaatar respectively in order to avoid public gatherings. The committee plans
to live-stream the traditional sports
tournaments and horse races nationwide on TV and online. All participants
of the tournaments and organizers will undergo prior medical examinations and
answer questions about their health status ahead of the festival and officials will be assigned to
check temperatures and enforce the safety rules during the tournaments.
The committee decided not to hold ceremonies to pay respect to the statues of D.Sukhbaatar and Chinggis Khaan, State Flag Day parade, Deeltei Mongol (Mongolians in Deel) festival, fireworks display, junior traditional sports tournaments, state banquet, and other cultural events, and fairs.
