New 7.2-km bike path scheduled to open by June 10

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During his weekly virtual briefing on May 11, Governor of the capital city S.Amarsaikhan informed that Ulaanbaatar will have 52.7 km bike paths this year.


Specifically, as part of the 2030 Ulaanbaatar City Road Development Master Plan, 52 km safe bike paths will be built this year alongside the roads connecting Nalaikh to Ulaanbaatar, and to Yarmag, Zaisan, and 'Marshall' Bridge in the city.


At the request of citizens to have long uninterrupted paths for strolling or jogging, bike paths will be built in routes Tavan Shar - Sapporo station; Sapporo station - Bayanburd junction, Geser Monastery - Ankara Street, Mongolian State University of Education - East four-way intersection, East four-way intersection - Officers’ Palace, Uliastai Bridge - Gachuurt intersection, and Nalakh district – Bayanzurkh Bridge. Another bike path will then be built in routes Yarmag – Marshall Bridge – Zaisan Bridge – Sky Resort – Bayanzurkh auto station – Nalaikh.


Between Marshall Bridge and Uliastai Bridge, for example, a 7.2 km bike path with lighting, car parking lots, and rest stops is being built to open by June 10. The other bike paths are expected to open within August or September.


The Governor also informed the Ulaanbaatar city government has developed the 2040 Ulaanbaatar City General Development Conceptual Plan and 2030 Ulaanbaatar City Development Strategy based on the requests from citizens. “Major policy decisions are being made for the establishment of Maidar city as well as the development of remote districts to satellite cities,” he added.
