Parliament to organize spring session via video-conferencing
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. A regular spring session of the Mongolian
Parliament will open on April 6, under the relevant law.
In the wake of fast-spreading Covid-19 globally and Mongolia’s
heightened state of readiness, Parliament Speaker G.Zandanshatar made a
decision to organize its plenaries of the spring session by using video-conferencing
and virtual management tools.
Preparations are underway to support virtual meetings. An
opening of the spring session will be live-streamed to four or five halls. Plenary
meetings and meetings of standing committees and working groups will be
organized via video streaming in the halls, alongside creating a possibility
for MPs to join the sessions remotely. In case of being physically present to parliamentary activity, a distance between MPs will be kept at two meters, not
gathering greater than 20 MPs in one place.
Furthermore, the Parliament is considering an issue to amend
the Law on the Procedure of the Plenary Session of the State Great Khural of
Mongolia to ensure MPs to get registered and join remote voting.
