Deputy Foreign Minister participates in 14th ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 14th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) took place in Madrid, Spain from December 15 to 16. High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell chaired the meeting which involved ministers of foreign affairs, deputy ministers of foreign affairs, and other high-ranking officials from the 53 ASEM partners, including a delegation led by Mongolian Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg.
At the meeting themed ‘Asia and Europe: Together for Effective Multilateralism’, the participants discussed issues of common interest among the ASEM partners from Asia and Europe, climate change, regional security, sustainable development goals, as well as strengthening of connectivity between the two continents.

Minister B.Battsetseg delivered remarks at the meeting’s plenary session on developing
sustainable connectivity between Asia and Europe. Voicing her view that the establishment
of the Pathfinder Group on Connectivity as a result of the 11th ASEM summit held
in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2016 played an important role in developing fruitful
cooperation between the two continents, the Deputy Foreign Minister said that Mongolia
will actively take part in and support joint projects and programs initiated by
Asian and European countries on connectivity.
In addition, during the meeting, Deputy Minister B.Battsetseg met with Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney, exchanging views on issues concerning bilateral relations and cooperation.
