MoU renewed between Mining Ministry and South Korea’s Mine Reclamation Corp

G.Nandinjargal on November 28 met with Lee Cheong Ryong, President of the Mine
Reclamation Corporation (MIRECO) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and
Energy of the Republic of Korea, which has been collaborating with the
Mongolian Mining Ministry in eradicating environmental damages caused by
mining, conducting reclamation activities, and promoting economic growth in
former mining regions.
At the meeting, State Secretary G.Nandinjargal said, “The Mongolian Government’s goal to develop responsible and transparent mining in the country requires us to eradicate and reduce environmental impacts of mining and conduct reclamation activities in accordance with high quality standards. Thus, I hope that your cooperation will assist us in achieving this goal”
Moreover, during the meeting the two sides renewed Memorandum of Understanding established in July, 2014. Both sides agreed that the renewed MoU will play an important role in expanding bilateral cooperation in mine reclamation, development of former mining regions, and implementation of joint projects and programs.
