Online training portal on extractive industry to launch in October

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Within the framework of the Mongolian Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry’s Strengthening Extractive Sector Management in Mongolia (SESMIM) project funded by the Global Affairs Canada, an online training portal on the Mongolia’s extractive industry training was officially handed over on September 17. The project aims to build Mongolian public sector capacity for transparent and effective policy implementation supporting sustainable growth in the extractive sector. 


The portal provides an access to an online database on extractive industry governance and regulatory framework, environmental management, mine closure, mining cadaster, climate change and gender issues in the extractive industry. Also, training database containing more than 100 research, reports and training manuals on domestic and foreign policies, regulations and best practices concerning strategic revenue management is available. 


Non-government organizations and private entities engaged in mining and heavy industries are welcomed to access to and enrich the portal with training and research materials with a view to improve public education, raise their awareness and involvement and providing learning opportunities to students, scholars and specialists in these fields. The online portal is planned to launch in October 2019.
