Deputy Justice Minister attends Singapore Mediation Convention signing ceremony

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation signing ceremony and summit were held in the Republic of Singapore on August  6-7.

Delegates of more than 70 countries attended the ceremony, of which 46 countries signed the convention. Deputy Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs G.Elbegsaikhan represented Mongolia at the signing ceremony and the summit. Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Law and Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam and other officials were present at the ceremony.

Deputy Minister G.Elbegsaikhan met with Senior Minister for Law and Health of Singapore Edwin Tong, exchanging views on bilateral relations and cooperation in legal sector. Highlighting the significance of the convention aimed at facilitating international trade, Mr. Edwin Tong expressed his hope that Mongolia will join the convention soon.




The Singapore International Mediation Institute organized the International Mediation Singapore mediation advocacy competition on August 2-5. Some 39 teams from 17 countries participated in the competition and the team of Mongolian student B.Ariunsanaa ‘Mediation work’ won first place, receiving the right to attend the Singapore Mediation Convention signing ceremony. Deputy Minister G.Elbegsaikhan congratulated B.Ariunsanaa for successful participation in the competition and wished success in her future studies.
