Mongolia-Japan joint research conference takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, National University of Mongolia (NUM) and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Mongolia-Japan joint research conference kicked off under the theme, ‘Joint research - New technology’, in the frameworks of the project, ‘Higher Engineering Education Development Project’. In accordance with the soft loan agreement made between the Government of Mongolia and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2014, the project is being implemented for the 5th year.


The aims of the conference are to strengthen the relations between research teams of NUM and MUST and research teams of Japan, introduce results and achievements of researches done by the teams into practice and promote it to the public.

Representatives of the Government of Mongolia, Embassy of Japan, JICA, international organizations, NGOs, scientific organizations and businesses as well as over 30 professors and researchers from Japan are attending the conference.


With the collaboration of NUM, MUST and Japanese universities, the professors and researchers will be able to enhance their research methodology alongside learning from the experience of research in Japan.

By developing joint research it is expected to prepare professors for the sectors of engineering, technology and science at NUM and MUST, build capacity, create a research laboratory and launch a startup to replace import products, put knowledge into circulation as well as to support the two Mongolian universities to become a research university.


Currently, about 400 researchers of 20 research teams are doing joint researches with Japanese universities in 8 major research fields. So far, 87 researchers have enrolled in master and doctoral degree programmes, and 209 university professors and teachers have attended courses in Japan in the frameworks of the project.
