Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A new project to construct 50 km bicycle path using the coal ash and carbon emissions discharged from the power plants of Ulaanbaatar has launched. Presentation of the project was held on February 1.

The project initiated by the resident of Inner Mongolia Muneyoshi Dugarja, who currently lives in Japan, will be financed and co-implemented by the ‘Dotexe Mongolia’ project and Japanese company ‘Rebirth Technology’.

‘Dotexe Mongolia’ is a project aimed at reducing air pollution in cities and settled areas, which involves the public by promoting effective and low-cost initiatives to address pressing environmental and ecological issues.

“I have been living in Japan for the last 15 years. Professor Dinil Pushpalal of Tohoku University owns the intellectual property rights for building concrete pavements using fly ash and carbon emission. As a result of discussions with the professor, we decided to implement the project in Ulaanbaatar. The technology produces eco-friendly recycled material. In addition to that, we are also planning to host a bike tour in Mongolia in order to attract foreign tourists, especially mountain bikers,” noted M.Dugarja.

Project initiators have noted that the fly ash concrete technology is widely used in a number of countries. It was also highlighted that when it comes to bicycle paths, the fly ash makes up to 70-80 percent of the road material, which is a great solution for our country.
