Mongolian delegation organizes event during Regular Session of UNHRCEnvironment
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 14, Mongolian delegates attending the 39th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council organized an event entitled ‘Local Solutions for Resolving World Pressing Issues: Public Contribution and Participation in Forwarding Human Rights and Development’ in collaboration with the Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The event aims to presenting public initiatives and contribution to resolving pressing issues on sanitation facility in Mongolia.
Ts.Oyungerel, President of Local Solutions Foundation, Saad Alfarargi, Special Rapporteur on the right to development and Leo Heller, Special Rapporteur on Human Rights to safe drinking water and sanitation were panelists, sharing their views with more than 40 representatives from member states of the Human Rights Council, its staffs as well as international NGOs which run operation in human rights.
Moreover Ts.Oyungerel introduced about a campaign ‘Let’s Change Our Toilets’ run by Local Solution NGO within the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Stressing that it is difficult for Mongolia to construct central drainage system in rural areas, Ts.Oyungerel said it intends to change public awareness on toilet that met sanitary requirement, to give knowledge to them as well as provide locals with information about latest technology to build eco-friendly affordable toilets.
