Ulaanbaatar to study China’s experience of reducing air pollution

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On June 20, Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Meeting S.Amarsaikhan and Mayor of Beijing city Chen Jining signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The Memorandum is intended to bring mutual cooperation between the two cities to a new stage, ensure people to live in a safe environment and develop mutually beneficial and equal cooperation.
The two sides agreed to create permanent cooperation mechanism during a visit of Mr. S.Amarsaikhan to Beijing in May and now confirmed it with the memorandum.

The main goals of the Memorandum is to expand the relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two cities, ensure security of the city by using technology achievements, study programs and projects for reducing air pollution and introduce technological solutions, and train personnel of the relevant sectors.
In addition, the sides agreed to intensify the study of Beijing’s experience in order to establish Ulaanbaatar free zone. "Some specific issues will be resolved in the framework of 70th year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China and 5th year anniversary of the establishment of the sister-city relationship between Ulaanbaatar and Beijing," said S.Amarsaikhan.
"Our delegates successfully participated in the Northeast Asian Mayors' Forum. The participants exchanged their experiences for reducing air pollution. Regarding our country, we are implementing effective ways such as reducing coal consumption and GHG emissions from vehicles, and improving fuel quality to reduce air pollution in a short time" said Mayor of Beijing city Chen Jining.
