Joint heart surgery team from Luxembourg performs Open-heart surgery

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A team of eight cardiovascular surgeons from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, worked at the Cardiovascular center of the Third State Central Hospital on June 1-9.
Since 2012, the team has been working in Mongolia for two to three times a year to perform heart surgery together with Mongolian doctors and provide on-the-job training.
This time, they performed surgery on 11 patients: 6 adults and children from 5 months old to 5 years old. For instance, they performed aortic valve replacement surgery and heart bypass surgery on an adult with a high-risk cardiovascular disease. Also, rehabilitation surgery of the aorta valve, rehabilitation and replacement surgery for aortic valve with two leaflets, and coronary artery bypass surgery were successfully performed. In addition, Tetralogy of Fallot repair, surgical closure of ventricular septal defects, coarctation repair, and pulmonary artery sling repair surgery were successfully performed on 5 young children, diagnosed with congenital heart defect.
