Mongolia and EU hold Joint Committee Meeting in Brussels

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia and the European Union held their Joint Committee Meeting on April 23 in Brussels. The meeting was co-chaired by D.Tsogtbaatar, Foreign Affairs Minister of Mongolia and Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director Asia and Pacific for the European Union External Action. The parties discussed bilateral ties, cooperation, and regional and global issues.
The both sides highlighted that the legal environment to expand scope of cooperation development with the EU and its member states has created since the entry into force of the EU-Mongolia Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) on November 1, 2017 and they agreed to approve an action plan for implementing the PCA in the near future.
The parties also agreed to collaborate in directions of increasing involvement of Mongolian students and scientific institutions in the EU programs for education, strengthening Mongolia’s capability to hold international trade and investment talks and negotiations, protecting child’s rights and protecting environment and nature through creating zero-waste economic structure.
Ahead of the Joint Committee meeting, a meeting of Subcommittee on Trade and Investment was held on April 10 and EU-Mongolia Human Rights Dialogue on April 20.
