Tea ceremony of Uzemchin people to become tourist brand event

Dornod /MONTSAME/ A tea ceremony of Uzemchin ethnic group was held in Sergelen soum of Dornod aimag, where Uzemchin people are mainly settled. Uzemchin people used to hold tea ceremony once a year in spring. They gather together with their neighbors, relatives, giving respect to elders and regaling their guests and they do not drink alcohol at all at the ceremony.

Mixed millet is the main dish of the ceremony. It is a special delicacy that was made mixing floured millet with butter, flour, sugar, raisin and making it formed. They eat the mixed millet putting it in their tea together with dried milk products and fried cookies. The ceremony has a significant importance to pass down their tradition to younger generation, teach them how to cook traditional food and make them to be respectful to their elders and their guests.       

Khalkha, Buryat, Barga and Uzemchin people, main ethnic groups in Dornod aimag and local authorities intend to create tourism brands relying upon special culture and customs of these ethnic groups and  the tea ceremony  of Uzemchin people will be organized to annually as a tourist event.
