Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga has expressed his concerns regarding the prolonged process surrounding ambassadorial appointments.

In an official letter addressed to Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh on December 22, the President called for the Cabinet to propose new ambassadorial candidates in the near future.

The official letter carried the President’s refusal to appoint G.Tenger as Mongolia’s Ambassador to Japan, N.Chimguundari as Ambassador to Canada and Yo.Otgonbayar as Ambassador to the US, based on grounds of age requirement, incompetence and violation of merit principles of public service. Parliament discussed and backed the appointment of these candidates on May 25 this year.

Moreover, the President expressed concerns on the withdrawal of S.Bayar, Ambassador to the UK and M.Enkhsaikhan, Ambassador to Sweden, regarding which he has proposed to consult with the Parliament. Ambassador S.Bayar submitted an application to return to Mongolia, which was discussed and settled by the Cabinet during its meeting on December 13.

“The Parliament still hasn’t addressed the withdrawal of M.Enkhsaikhan to this date,” said the President, asking the Cabinet to propose new candidates to four countries.

President Kh.Battulga declined the appointment of B.Khurts as the head of Mongolia’s diplomatic mission to the Republic of Korea until the controversy that arose during the discussion of his appointment by Parliament is cleared, informed the Press and Media Department, the Office of the President of Mongolia.
