Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The National Annual Livestock Census has been launched, reported the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry on December 8.

The annual census takes place on December 7-17 every year, covering every herding household, entity and farm in the country.

In compliance with the relevant regulations, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry in cooperation with the National Statistical Office will oversee the national census results with a recount on up to ten percent of the households.

The Ministry and the Statistical Office will deploy a team separately to eight aimags in order to ensure accuracy of the census, observe the counting process and the situation in soums and aimags encountering wintering difficulties. The Ministry team will work in provinces on December 13-17 whereas the Statistical Office team on December 7-17.

The teams have been instructed to oversee the readiness for the national census, inclusiveness of the count and documentation procedure, provide supervision when it is required, and conduct a survey regarding the most essential needs of herders in aimags and soums in a difficult wintering situation.
