From brown growth to green economy: 7th board meeting of unpage takes place in Ulaanbaatar

The 7th board meeting of United Nations Partnership for Action on Green Economy began  in Ulaanbaatar.
Concerning the meeting, Deputy Minister of Environment and Tourism Mr Ts.Batbayar, Head of Green Development Policy Department Mrs T.Bulgan and Head of Working Team of Green Development and Climate Change Programme at UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Mr Angus Mackay have held press briefing.
At the initiatives of the five main bodies of the UN, “Partnership for Action on Green Economy” program has been running since 2013 and Mongolia was one of the first members. The program aims to provide countries engaging in green development with policy support. In other words, Mongolia is pursuing to develop from brown economy to green. Considering the current level, Mongolia spends 17 kg  natural resource to produce USD 1 worth product, while the world average is 1.7kg for USD 1 and Asia-Pacific countries spend 3kg natural resources. It means that Mongolia is currently utilizing wasteful, outdated and environmentally harmful technologies.
In frames of the United Nations Partnership for Action on Green Economy /UNPAGE/ Board Meeting, performed actions and their outcomes for 2013-2017 will be reported and it will discuss issues on ways of sustaining its achievements and accomplishments after completion of the project.
